Week 3: Reference and Concept photos for Creating a typeface

For this week we had to choose a certain idea/ concept for the direction we wanted to go for our own custom typeface. I went with the first things that came to mind: Waves, Blades and Fancy gates. Yes, it may come off random but these are certain things I thought would create a really cool design typeface wise. Once I found my reference photos, I went to sketching and these are the rough sketches and ideas Ive gotten so far. Things may change overtime, but I think this is a great start!

    I prefer the waves and fancy gate ideas. I would try to combine the second and fourth wave options. The second one is clean and I like the drips that come off of it, but I feel like the fourth one emulates more of a wave. I like the third fancy gate option because it looks sharp and spooky which I'm a big fan of. Keep up the good work!

Week 2: Type Classification

      For this weeks project, we had to pick out classifications of certain typefaces. Then we had to use the typefaces in a creative way for it to fit the dimensions of an  iPhone, Website, and Film. The classifications I chose for this was Transitional and Geometric Sans Serif. The typefaces I used from the transitional side was my favorite typeface, Baskerville, and for the Geometric San Serif, I used Futura. I overall had fun creatively making these, especially the film one (I made the words the black bars and one of the words being the title of the film). I also had a lot of fun making the website one mainly because the typefaces overlap one another but still can be readable, it looks really cool!
